Mancave is a browser game. This page lists everything it stores about you. No ads, no selling of data, no tracking without your yes.
Your cave
Your save lives in your browser and is also backed up to our server under a random save code, so clearing site data or switching browsers doesn't lose it. The save holds game progress only.
Accounts
Signing in is optional. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, that Google has verified it, and your first name. The name is only used to greet you in the welcome email and is not stored. We don't ask for contacts or anything else. If you sign in by email, we send a one-time code to that address. We store your email, which cave belongs to the account, and the browsers you are signed in on (for example "Chrome on macOS") with sign-in dates. The sign-in cookie is only used to keep you signed in.
When you make an account we send one welcome email, and when you buy we send one thank-you email (it uses the name you gave at checkout). We don't send marketing email unless you join the launch list.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, the merchant of record, who process your card and handle tax and refunds. We never see your card. We receive your email, the purchase and its status (for example refunded), and keep a one-way hash of your license key, never the key itself, so the game can unlock on your devices.
Usage stats (only if you say yes)
The game asks once whether it may send anonymous gameplay stats to PostHog, including a low-frame-rate replay of the game view, to find what is confusing or broken. Nothing is sent if you say no.
Crash reports (everyone)
If the game crashes or your graphics card fails, it sends an automatic crash report: the error, where in the code it happened, the game version, your browser, graphics card model and country, and the names of your last few actions (like "opened shop"). It has no account, email, save, screenshot, IP address or ID that links reports together. Crash reports are kept 90 days.
Bug reports and the launch list
If you press F7 to report a bug, the report and its screenshot are sent to the developer. If you join the launch list, we store your email and country to tell you when the game opens. No IP address is stored.
Your data, your call
Signed in, go to Settings → Cloud save to download everything we hold about you as one file, or to delete your account, its sign-ins and its cloud save. Purchase records are kept by the store as tax law requires, and your license key keeps working.
Data is stored with Cloudflare (hosting and database), Dodo Payments (purchases), Resend (sending account emails), Google (sign-in), and PostHog (opt-in stats).
How long we keep it
Account data and cloud saves stay until you delete your account. Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes. Purchase records are kept as long as tax law requires. Crash reports are kept 90 days. F7 reports and stats are kept only as long as they're useful for fixing the game.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, and you can withdraw consent to stats at any time in the game. Most of this is self-serve in Settings. For anything else, email us at the address below. We are based in Canada and follow its privacy law (PIPEDA); if you are in the EU or UK, you also have your GDPR rights, including complaining to your local data authority.
Children
Mancave is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
We'll update this page when what we collect changes. The date above shows the latest version.
